Director of the annual Niel Gow Festival in Dunkeld and Birnam, Pete Clark helps promote and sustain the fiddle tradition in highland Perthshire. Join Pete Clark for a ramble through the streets of Edinburgh for talk, tunes, a pie and a pint!

Approx. 2½ hours at leisurely pace.

T2 12:30pm Marketing and Promotion Jennifer McGlone

Jennifer McGlone established Glow Arts in 2006, working across the UK providing consultancy, booking agency, events and tour management services to the traditional music sector. Jennifer is also currently a Development Officer for Creative Scotland. Jennifer will pass on tips for musicians on how to promote and market themselves.

T3 1:30pm The Fiddle Music of John Clare and Thomas Hardy and the English Fiddle Tradition Pete Cooper

Pete Cooper plays, teaches, composes, records and writes about fiddle music. Pete will share about two great fiddle-playing authors who painted a vivid picture of English fiddle music in its heyday in the early 1800s.

Maker of the “Sherlock” violin, Scottish instrument maker Steve Burnett builds his violins, violas and cellos in the old Italian/Scottish spirit. Steve will share his views on tonal production, set up, and give advice on buying a fiddle.
