Alistair McCulloch & Seán Gray
Featuring two of south-west Scotland’s best-known traditional musicians, this recital will focus on the lesser-known fiddle traditions of Ayrshire, past and present.
Renowned Ayr-based fiddler and composer Alistair McCulloch, has performed and taught all over the world and is a long-established fiddle tutor at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Current projects include touring with the Tannahill Weavers as well as continuing to perform with his long-running trio and ceilidh band Coila.
Seán Gray, originally from Coylton, is a much sought after guitarist, flautist and singer who has collaborated with many of the leading names in folk music. His work with poet Rab Wilson has received great acclaim as has his recent album Fixed Assets which is a collection of self-penned songs drawing inspiration from the Ayrshire coal mining industry.
From driving reels and jigs to tender airs Alistair and Seán are looking forward to returning to the Scots Fiddle Festival.
In addition to their Sunday Showcase, Alistair and Seán will be hosting the following workshops:
