Gavin Marwick

Gavin Marwick is a fiddle player and composer; brought up in the rich musical landscape of Edinburgh. His music is firmly rooted in the Scottish tradition and influenced by a lifetime ofexperiences with many different bands, musicians and theatre shows across five continents. He wasthe FATEA Instrumentalist of the Year 2023.Ongoing projects include Quarterdays, which features both Aaron Jones (cittern) and Ruth Morris (nyckelharpa), and this will be the focus of the recital and the workshop at SFF 26. He currently playswith Firelight Trio, the multi-award winning The Tailor of Inverness (Dogstar) and The GallowayAgreement/Tom Pow (The Village & The Road) have a new production, Towa Mura, in collaborationwith Bird Theatre, Japan. He has released over 25 albums as a main named artist and featured on many others as a session artist. He has published two books of tunes: Horizons (2014) and Quarterdays (2024).

Ruth Morris - Saturday 10am - Highland Room

European folk tunes (Intermediate and above) - Nyckelharpa led workshop for strings. Tunes will be taught by ear with sheet music provided at the end.
